So I've been working a lot recently on being open to opportunities! Part of the support program I am on is building confidence and this fantastic Equine Experience is available-
But it is limited !!
And I noticed that I had an impulse to take it down, to be selfish and not give others the opportunity to see it!
I believe it has something to do with the negativity bias we all have!
So we all know (or those of us who have worked in customer services) that people are approximately 10x more likely to complain than they are to complement-
But why?
Well I've been reading The Code of the Extraordinary Mind by Vishen Lakhiani
And his explanation of how and why is very interesting!
He tells a story about how our hunter gatherer ancestors were improving their odds for survival by having superior communication skills and sharing their knowledge of possible dangers with their group to keep them ALL SAFE!
Like there was a tiger by the river this morning so let's go fishing this afternoon after it has gone away!
That type of information is really valuable, I'm sure you will agree!
And we still do it today!
But why are we less likely to share good news or opportunities?
It's that scarcity element-
If you know of a crop of wild strawberries that grow high on the hill that is difficult to get to, and only you know where to find them, that suddenly makes you valuable to the group!
And more likely to be protected (I'm sure you're making the connections).
And you will be selective with who you trust with sharing this information too right- because if you tell everyone the strawberries will all get picked and there will be none left and your potential leverage in the hunter gatherer group will be limited!
So this is something I've been working with for a while, even though I know of the fantastic work with Caroline Strawson and I've been reposting some valuable nuggets, I've not been sharing the full bounty!
Please message me if you want some more information about how you can learn from the best!
